In the world of home based businesses and online businesses, in my opinion, affiliate marketing is one of the best. If you have your own website to promote your products or someone else’s product, then you need to drive traffic to your site in order to be successful. Here are a few ways for you to do that:

1. Relevant Content. Plainly put, you need unique and relevant content on your website. Your website should look like a good resource center for your visitors and needs to teach them about the product or service you are promoting. The search engines also like unique content and it will help you with search engine optimization.

2. Keywords. Your website needs to have your keywords in the content and preferably at or near the top and also in the title. You will also want to use your keywords though out the content but don’t over do it! To help you find keywords for your site, go to www.adwords.google.com/select/KeywordTool.

3. Get Backlinks. What you will want to do here is find websites that have a high page rank and and that is close to the same niche that you have but not in direct competition with you and ask them to put a link to your site on their web site in exchange for a link on your site to theirs. The more of these you have, the better your site will do on the search engines.

4. Articles and Blogs. Write articles about you product or service and submit them to article directories. Make sure you have a link back to your site. Most article directories will allow this in the bio section of the submission process. Also, you should have a blog and post good content in it on a regular basis…3 to 4 times a week minimum. Again, have a link back to your website somewhere in the content.

5. Advertise. You can find a lot of free advertising on the Internet, just Google free Internet advertising and start submitting your ads on these sites and as always, link back to your site. Pay per click advertising is a great way to generate instant traffic. However, this comes with a cost so be careful not to lose your shirt on this method.
